PMATH 399 - Mathematics of quantum information The goal of this course is to present the mathematical background needed for more advanced topics in quantum information and computation, while using quantum information as a lens to study a range of topics in advanced linear algebra and elementary functional analysis. Topics to be covered include finite-dimensional Hilbert spaces and states, positive operators and measurements, unitary evolution, tensor products, quantum registers and quantum gates, matrix algebras and matrix norms, completely positive maps and quantum channels, dilation theorems, and entanglement and Bell inequalities. Prereqs: MATH 235 or MATH 245 MATH 247 or AMATH/PMATH 331 or PMATH 333
